Secondary Cities are the new Urban Champions. We look forward to meeting you at the German Cities Pavilion at MIPIM 2019, where Cities and Regions like the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen, Hannover, Leipzig, Nuremberg and the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region exhibit together and will be highlighting the unique investment opportunities they have to offer.

Major investors have stopped focusing solely on Germany’s top 7 primary cities. Other locations in Germany, which include all five of the partners, have been the focus of keen and sustained demand for a while, and interest continues to rise. Overall, there is a clear trend of investing in these second-tier locations. In Nuremberg for example, the volume of transactions on the real estate investment market has almost doubled within three years, exceeding the one billion euro mark for the first time in 2017. Meanwhile, investments in commercial property in the Rhine-Neckar region totalled 920 million euro in 2017. Classic investment targets and asset classes in the A-cities have grown less attractive to many investors over recent years. Their attention is increasingly switching to core sites in second-tier locations and to alternative asset classes such as hotel and logistics real estate.

The working relationship of the Cities and Regions is being extended further at this MIPIM. They offer investors and project developers reliability and stability without the need to sacrifice returns, thereby meeting the central requirements of an attractive real estate and investment location.

"MIPIM offers us the ideal platform to present Bremen/Bremerhaven as a real estate location with its international brand Bremeninvest to an international professional audience. Together with the leading players from the Bremen real estate scene Justus Grosse Projektentwicklung GmbH, Robert C. Spies Gewerbe und Investment GmbH & Co. KG and Zech Immobilien GmbH, we present our outstanding real estate projects.“ Andreas Heyer, Vorsitzender der Geschäftsführung der WFB Wirtschaftsförderung Bremen GmbH

“The Hannover region has a winning strategy in every area with attractive offers and structures that hold value, in terms of both, commercial properties and residential construction. Hannover and the surrounding area are constantly developing as locations that offer a high quality of life.” Ulf-Birger Franz, Head of Economic Affairs for the Region of Hannover

„Nuremberg is a strong German business location with ambitions. This becomes apparent in an expanding real estate market. To design the city’s future by urban development and digital transformation is our passion.” Dr. Michael Fraas, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs of the City of Nuremberg
